When you become a member of MIPPA, you get MIPPA on your side. MIPPA represents and protects the interest of Non-Utility generators in Michigan. It strives to assure continuing opportunities for independent power production in Michigan and to foster the use of renewable energy resources.

On behalf of its members, MIPPA

• Closely monitors and analyzes the impact of relevant events on its member constituents, their associated contracts, and their power generating facilities.
• Participates in the legislative process and relevant proceedings before the Michigan Public Service Commission where appropriate in matters of interest to its members
• Conducts educational seminars, meetings, conferences etc., for the benefit of its members
• Seeks to level the playing field in the competitive energy environment so that a fair, transparent and competitive market can exist

MIPPA's Role in Michigan's Environment

The members of MIPPA play an important role in Michigan's environmental future. "Green" has been the buzz word of late, but this is not a fad for us or our members. It is what we do and it is central to our member's operations. Since its founding in 1997, MIPPA has directly been involved in and has been a significant player in shaping many of the important steps in furthering renewable energy in Michigan.

By protecting renewable energy generation, MIPPA has helped our members positively contributed to our energy future through activities that

• Reduce solid and wood waste deposited in landfills
• Provide Michigan customers with an alternative to traditional fossil fuel sources

MIPPA is Green Jobs

Michigan has made the creation of green jobs the focal point of its economic growth strategy. At MIPPA, we think that is a great idea, but Michigan will never become the Mecca for renewable energy jobs with out a strong base of renewable energy generators. Renewable Energy generators have long been a source of green jobs and MIPPA's efforts not only protect those jobs but also encourage more to exist.
