Granholm declares herself “bullish on wind power”
On 4/21/10, Gov. Jennifer Granholm spoke at the wind energy conference.  She stated, “I’m so bullish on wind power as a way to diversify manufacturing in the state. We want to be the place where climate change solutions are researched, developed and produced.  Granholm also said that Michigan was competing with other states, like Ohio, to develop offshore wind projects.

MPSC Releases MIREC’s FAQ
On March 30, the MPSC released a staff advisory that answered frequently asked questions regarding the Michigan Renewable Energy Certification System (MIRECS) in response to issues raised by several electric providers.  You can read the advisory here.

The MPSC to Hold Public Hearing on Renewable Energy Plans
The MPSC has plans to hold a public hearing on the proposed rules governing renewable energy and energy optimization plans on June 22 at 9 am in Lansing.  You can read the proposed rules on the MPSC website. 

The MPSC Designates Michigan Wind Zones
On 1/27/10 the MPSC designated two Michigan regions as wind energy resource zones.  The first zone includes parts of Bay, Huron, Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola counties.  The second zone includes parts of Allegan County.
